Most business philosophies state that change is inevitable. Surprisingly, however these businesses remain stuck in their old paper based business processes. Reports have shown that businesses spend as much as 15% of their revenue on costs associated with paper output. Typically, 90% of a company's information is stored in documents, which consume 60% of office workers' time and 40% of labour costs. Studies have indicated that in many cases documents are the largest single business expense. Every day, billions of documents are created, costing a staggering $20-billion/year. While many companies can't afford the time or money to do their documentation properly, experts say that they can't afford to consign this aspect of their business to the backburner and hope everything turns out okay. Invariably they come unstuck sooner or later and the bottom line suffers. While some businesses are outsourcing.....there are still opportunities to cut costs and decrease unnecessary spending. For example, instead of sending documents to an alternate location for paper storage, why not implement an archival system that can be done in house? Documents can be created, routed electronically and archived all at the same time. Is it safe? With multiple mirrored hard drives and the ability to burn a copy to a CD or DVD that can be kept in a secure off site location, the answer is yes!
